There are a few steps to take prior to turning on the hardware. Connect All facilitates your implementation by initially taking you to a Setup Wizard which:
- establishes your Internet connection,
- checks for any software updates,
- associates the unit’s Skype for Asterisk feature with a Business SkypeID,
- adds Users,
- creates Teams and
- sets up an Auto Attendant.
Once the Setup Wizard is completed you are then taken to the Administrator Portal where you can set up many additional features such as (but not limited to):
- Backing up your Connect All configuration
- Setting up a Skype Connect Profile
- Setting up Find Me by adding “phones” such as mobile phones and remote landline phones to a User’s extension
- Adding other SIP-based services, including SIP-based telephone accounts from third party service providers
- Etc.
To prepare for running the Connect All Setup Wizard the preliminary steps are:
- Make a list of the system Users.
- Establish a Business SkypeID for the Skype for Asterisk channel included on the FREETALK Connect and any User Business SkypeID’s.
- Determine if you will use Freetalk Connect as your network router (Router Mode) or if you will use an existing network router (Appliance Mode).
- Determine the maximum number of simultaneous calls you will require.
- If an Internet based telephone service is being used, calculate bandwidth requirements to ensure the service can support high quality voice calls.
- Ensuring your FREETALK Connect remains available during a power failure.

Leading softphones such as CounterPath’s Bria or Xlite can be easily configured with Connect•All. Simply follow the instructions in the HOWTO section of the support page of this web site.
Call Park enables you to park a call on one phone for retrieval (pick up) on another phone. To use Call Park press the transfer button on your phone and enter extension 700. Listen for the system to announce the number (extension) to access the parked call. Note the number and then press the transfer button again. The user who will pick up the parked call simply needs to pick up the phone and dial the number (extension) to pick up the call.
The Connect•All appliance provides 4 FXO (PSTN lines) on the box.
Login to your voicemail box and select “0″ for mailbox options. Follow the prompts to record the appropriate messages.
To page other phones on the system, dial *00 from any phone and say your message. When finished, disconnect. Note: Most phones will support inbound pages but some cordless phones may not. Check with your phone provider to determine functionality.
Voicemail can be accessed in one of the following ways:
- Dial 800 from any phone connected to the office network
- Dial the office phone number and dial extension 800 when the auto-attendant picks up
- Dial your own extension from any phone assigned to you as a user.
Once you have accessed the voicemail system simply login using the username and PIN provided by your system administrator.
The Connect•All will not work without power but does include a PSTN failover for emergency calls. This means that if the power fails the PSTN Line In will work with the PSTN Phone line on the back of the box so that calls can be made using an analog phone plugged into the Phone port. It is strongly recommended that you use a Uninterruptible Power Supply with your FREETALK Connect.
Connect•All has been designed to provide flexibility along with ease of use. If Connect•All is the default network router as well as the phone system issues like Quality of Service (QoS) can be dealt with by default and enabled to manage all traffic helping to ensure that quality of you telephone conversations. As the network router Connect•All is also able to detect when devices such as a SIP phone have been plugged in anywhere on the network. This enables the system to auto-detect and configure phones from providers such as Aastra, Linksys, Polycom and Snom. Additional information on using Connect•All in Router Mode or Appliance Mode may be found here.
You can create Dialing Rules that would send calls of different types out different ITSPs, differentiating based on different prefixes. Refer to the documentation for more information.
While Connect•All has been optimized to take advantage of Skype’s many services it also works with a long list of VoIP service providers or Internet Telephony Service Provider’s (ITSP) services. Connect•All can be configured with multiple providers enabling the ability to select the best rates for the destinations you wish to call.
Connect•All is designed to work with standard SIP phones. Phones from Aastra, Linksys, Polycom and Snom have the advantage of being provisioned automatically with the Connect All system so there is no need for you to do anything but plug them in. You may use other standard SIP phones but you will need to be able to perform some basic provisioning tasks.
